Have you ever tried to lose weight with the intention of making a change for good, only to hit a plateau, stop altogether, and end up in the same place you started (or even heavier than before)? Don’t worry — you’re not alone. Mike Doran and his family have been there.
But not anymore! Now, they’ve found a system that works, and they’re sharing some advice that can help others.
Before Isagenix, the Dorans spent a lot of time watching TV, eating nutritionally poor foods, and falling asleep on the couch. They were happy, but they weren’t energetic or adventurous. They went on the same family vacation every year. And after looking back at their trip photos, they noticed how much weight they had gained over time.
Mike shared that those photos weren’t always easy to look at. He was motivated to change and started eating better while incorporating light exercise into his routine. But, it was difficult to make progress with his wife, Michelle, and son, Zane, continuing to eat unhealthily. Luckily, after a few months, Michelle joined him.
Together, they were making significant progress, but after hitting a four-week plateau, they needed something to keep them going. Michelle’s cousin introduced them to Isagenix, and they got started on the system. Once their daughter, Paige, saw their results, she got started, too, and it didn’t take long for Zane to follow.
They’ve since lost 300 pounds collectively* and have reclaimed their health as a family.
“Teamwork makes the dream work, right?!” said Mike. (We certainly think so!)

We recently caught up with the Dorans to find out how they achieved Results You Can’t Get Anywhere Else™. Here’s what they had to say:
Isagenix: What’s your best advice for someone who is getting started with Isagenix for the very first time?
Mike: When we first started Isagenix, we just wanted to lose weight, but we soon realized that becoming healthy was what we were truly after, which we love to teach to other people. There’s so much education involved in this system, and you’re in for an eye-opening lesson in how health and wellness (not just weight loss) relate to how you feel overall and how you view yourself.
Our best advice for someone getting started is to take advantage of that education and to use their Coach and community. Browse the Isagenix websites for information (especially Isagenix Health), use the products, and get involved in the programs (like the IsaBody Challenge®!). We love being the product of such amazing products, and Michelle, Paige, and I have now completed three IsaBody Challenges. Comparing our first before photos to our latest after photos has left us speechless!
I: How has this journey together affected your dynamic as a family?
Michelle: Our family has become so much closer through our Isagenix journey because we have an amazing support system within one another and are working toward common goals. We can talk about our Isagenix products, businesses, and new lifestyle together and then help each other progress.
As parents, one important factor in creating the success we’ve had with our kids is how we never pressured them to change. We led by example, and they chose to join us and begin this journey on their own terms.
I: What are your favorite healthy recipes?
Paige: As a family, we love to make cauliflower pizza, turkey burgers, chicken and veggie stir-fry, and chicken salad.
As a professional chef, I cook to create bold flavors and memorable moments. I want to create that next big thing, so if the question is whether all my recipes involve health-conscious ingredients, the answer is no, not always. And that’s OK! Whether I create a healthy vegan plate or a savory, satisfying umami dish, I’m still doing what makes me happy. I can serve my guests what they love while still taking care of myself and my goals. It’s all about balance.
I: What are your goals for the future?
Mike: To take inspiration from the amazing IsaBody™ community and pay forward what I have received.
Michelle: To lose another 25 pounds to reach my ideal healthy weight and then focus on toning my physique!
Paige: To reach a total weight loss of 100 pounds and join the Isagenix 100-Pound Club.
Zane: To keep working hard on my high school track team and keep raising the bar on my personal bests.
We each have our own unique goals, but we know Isagenix can help us reach all of them!
I: What do you love most about being involved in the Isagenix community?
Mike: I love that through the Isagenix and IsaBody communities, we can help others change their lives, either by inspiring or directly contacting family and friends. As we continue to change our own lives as well as our family and friends’ lives, we also impact a new group of people who have the power to do the same. It’s an amazing evolution to be a part of.
Our Isagenix journey has made us all more present in life and in each other’s lives, and that in itself may be the biggest win.
