Step 1: Get Your Mind Right

Decorate it with inspiring quotes, photos, and any other images that will keep you focused on taking positive action.

“Lose weight” or “feel better” are goals that are too vague. How do you know if you’ve succeeded? One of the best ways to reach your goals is to make them SMART (i.e., specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely).
Once you’ve identified your goals and made sure they’re SMART, it’s time to share them. Though it may be tempting to keep your journey to yourself until you’ve completed it, science says you should share early and often!
Research performed by Dr. Gail Matthews, a clinical psychologist, found that participants who wrote down their goals were more likely to achieve them. What’s more, those who wrote down their goals AND shared them with a friend were even more likely to succeed in achieving them.
