February Is American Heart Month

In observance of American Heart Month, here are a few tips to keep your cardio health pumping.

1. Eat Right & Get Moving

The first step to leading a healthy lifestyle is eating right. That means three balanced meals per day, each containing the proper servings of protein, carbohydrates, and phytonutrients. IsaLean® Shake, IsaLean PRO Shake, and IsaLean Bar offer a complete meal and balanced nutrition. Products such as IsaPro®, Isagenix Greens™, and the entire AMPED™ line are designed to boost nutrition based on your individual needs.

The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. If time is an issue, try 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Regardless of which time allotment you choose, regular exercise has a favorable effect on your cardiovascular system.

Small, Everyday Solutions

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
  • Enjoy an afternoon walk during lunch.
  • Join the IsaBody Challenge®.
  • Meet friends for a morning hike instead of brunch.
  • Park farther from your destination than normal for a few extra steps.

2. Maintain a Healthy Body Mass Index (BMI)

A BMI either below or above the healthy-weight range can contribute to daily and long-term health problems by adding unnecessary stress on the heart. Not sure what a “healthy” BMI is for you? Use this helpful calculator courtesy of the CDC.

3. Stress Less

Physical and emotional stresses are realistic parts of everyone’s life. Between toxins in the environment and everyday life pressures alone, stress affects each of us. According to the American Heart Association, high levels of stress are linked to high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, physical inactivity, low energy, and overeating.
